Become a Better Soccer Coach

Filed under: Soccer Coaching — admin @ 1:32 pm

Soccer is a game, which needs lots of motivation, stamina, hard work and much more. Giving coaching to the youth soccer is easy, if the coach knows how to motivate the players. While teaching soccer, the coach has to give examples of the popular names so as to train them by speaking to them and what they think after listening to the coach. A positive approach to the players will help them to play in the long run and strive more to win the game. Though it is not very simple to motivate the soccer players, it definitely works once this is achieved.

Soccer coaching is like a child being promoted to class step-by-step and by comparing with others, so that he or she can win by an award, trophy or scholarship. The aggressiveness, frustration aroused due to failure in the soccer game by the players, will constantly help on the soccer field. Until this kind of attitude is being carried out by a player, the energy or power to win won’t arouse. Following a positive approach by a player means everything is going right. A player should never get disheartened, if anything is not going well or as expected. It is always suggested that soccer players should ask about the mistakes and to improve the soccer game by approaching the coach. A coach can easily improve mistakes, without looking at the game.

The best way to train the soccer players is by seeing the right moves and motivating them to repeat them again and again. The coach should not become very specific while speaking positive words. They should try avoiding the specifics about the right kick, placing the foot to the right place or performance at the last penalty kick. These things though taken positively may have a wrong impact as an appreciated move in one situation would create problems, if it is repeated at a time when it is not required. Hence, the appreciation should be general in nature.

The most important role played by a soccer player is to encourage the other players or team-mates. Motivation helps the soccer players to feel good about them and to work harder towards achieving their goal. This would also help in improving the points on which they are going wrong, by focusing and practicing more. The positive frame of mind, that they are good, will help them in improving the game. The feeling of inadequacy will vanish from their minds.

Special training is given to the soccer players:

  • Playing with weaker or much slower team - It is always beneficial to play with a weaker or slower team, if you planning to win your target. Sometimes, it happens that the team has to play with a tougher team, which is a huge disaster for the losing team in terms of their motivation and confidence levels.
  • Speed and weight training - Soccer game not only includes good instincts, impressive players, but speed and strength to lift weight is also a need. The players should spend significant amount of energy, time and power at the time of training.

Soccer players should follow the above tips to make their game successful in long run.

Soccer is a team sport where all players are not of the same ability. Having the stronger players work with the weaker players is more of a way for the team to respect each other. While the teams repects each other they will support each other more on and off of the field.

A point of note has to be the fact that work responsibilities are different for soccer coaches at different level of the game. Coaches at the professional team level have to tackle a completely new set of hurdles.

In my opinion, soccer coaches have the most important role to play in any team game. They are responsible for not only developing team spirit and team cohesion, but also for making strategic decisions during the course of a game. Theirs is a demanding job, and one of the most coveted.
